The links will take you to www.fishpond.co.nz, an excellent New Zealand-owned site that carries many great books, often at the best prices I've been able to find.
Alternately, you can visit my Amazon Essential Books page if you're interested in the same books from North America.
New cover, same book, although revised I guess. This one is the perfect thing for those social occasions when you're stuck for conversation: "Did you know that margarine has caused more coronaries than it has prevented...?" It also makes a great gift. Jeffreys reveals suppressed truths left, right and centre and the best thing about it is that they are all credibly referenced from orthodox medical journals and research - oh, the irony. MSG, sugar, aspartame, fats, heart bypasses, nicotine, prozac, the bra, golf, mobile phones, immunisation, root canals, the list of topics is huge. This kind of book excites me because it can reach so many people.
Toni Jeffreys - Your Health at Risk
Hal Huggins lost his dental license for teaching the dangers of mercury amalgam. I saw him speak at a seminar in Auckland some years ago and he's a mine of information who has the courage of his convictions and has suffered for his cause. He's not the only writer on this topic but given his clinical experience you can't go past him.
Hal Huggins - It's All in Your Head
Fallon is a world-renowned writer and public speaker. As a Weston Price Foundation director, much of her message supports Price's work. Do I agree with everything she has to say? Perhaps not, but if there was only one right answer out there, then there would only be one book too.
Sally Fallon - Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook That Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats
I was hoping to find "Oxygen Therapies" by McCabe, but this one is probably close enough. Here is a man who has been persecuted for his beliefs to the n'th degree but is trying to bring out the truth anyway.
Ed McCabe - Flood Your Body with Oxygen: Therapy for Our Polluted World
You can't really understand nutrition until you've studied and tried fasting. Ehret is unquestionably THE authority on fasting and may shock you with the revelation that food is not responsible for our health and vitality. This book so deserves its place on the "must-read" list.
Arnold Ehret - Mucusless Diet Healing System: "Master Key" to Superior Health
Everything from cancer cures to cars that run on water, signs of intelligent life on Mars to free energy machines. This book is a real eye opener and illustrates how much resistance there can be to new ideas when egos and profit get in the way.
Jonathan Eisen - Suppressed Inventions
Essential reading for creating a happy and safe home - from the humble Peace Lily to the stunning Poinsetia, houseplants can purify our air of all sorts of toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, as well as being emotionally uplifting.
How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants That Purify Your Home or Office
I haven't read this one either, but after watching a video recently about their work I believe the Dore Programme has a lot to offer families with reading, writing, spelling and social skill problems such as dyslexia. Movement of the body and physical co-ordination is integrally tied-in with the development of the speech and visual centres of the brain.
I've read lots of Steiner books. They're deep and insightful, although often require a great deal of concentration and pondering. Well worth the effort in this case. As you may already know, Biodynamic organic farming is founded on Steiner's principles.
Rudolf Steiner - Agriculture: An Introductory Reader
Dr Doug Morrison gave this book a big thumbs up. So often taken for granted, the ability to have a good night's refreshing sleep is shown to be crucial for our well-being, physically and emotionally.
William C Dement - The Promise of Sleep: A Pioneer in Sleep Medicine Explores the Vital Connection Between Health, Happiness, and a Good Night's Sleep
I use the practitioner's edition of the Merck Manual quite a lot, whenever I need to understand orthodox diagnosis and treatment methods. It's one of those reference manuals that is indispensable when you need a medical perspective, although somewhat technical. I'm picking that the Home Edition is far less technical and targeted for self-diagnosis of common ailments.
Another inspirational Jensen classic.
Bernard Jensen - Foods That Heal: Unlocking the Remarkable Secrets of Eating Right for Health, Vitality and Longevity
Vaccination is a highly controversial topic, not just for questions over its effectiveness but also for its safety, being implicated in the cause of many devastating conditions such as Autism. The medical profession and pharmaceutical industries have a lot invested in the germ theory and vaccination and seldom are able to present a truly "informed consent" perspective. However, evidence for the dangers extend right back to the very beginnings of vaccination over 100 years ago.
The Alexander Technique is a wonderful method of retraining postural habits. Its founder, Frederick Matthias Alexander is shown to be both an inspired pioneer and a man of many great philosophies.
FM - The Life of Frederick Matthias Alexander: Founder of the Alexander Technique
This little book has been republished and slightly altered a number of times over the last few decades. Instruction in these 5 simple exercises (the Five Tibetan Rites) was part-and-parcel of every Body Electronics Instructor's Seminar in the '90's and surely of interest to anyone interested in Longevity.
Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth
I had no idea there was a sequel, but written by the same author, this promises to be worth a read.
Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth: Vol 2
