The links will take you to www.fishpond.co.nz, an excellent New Zealand-owned site that carries many great books, often at the best prices I've been able to find.
Alternately, you can visit my Amazon Essential Books page if you're interested in the same books from North America.
Another wheatgrass book? I must think it's pretty important stuff. It sure is.
Nature's Finest Medicine: The Complete Guide to Using Grass Foods & Juices to Help Your Health
Parents are often afraid of self-diagnosing or home treatment methods for their children, but one thing everyone can do is to provide a safer environment. Not until you become aware of the chemicals your children are exposed to every day can you begin to protect them from unnecessary exposure.
This little wheel provides an at-a-glance fact-finder for your sprouting endeavours.
Sproutmans Turn the Dial Sprout Chart: A Field Guide to Growing and Eating Sprouts
Black's was my first medical dictionary, a 1973 edition bought in a second-hand shop. While it is not on a technical par with Stedman's or Dorland's or as exhaustive, I still find Black's useful for its simpler explanations and clarity.
I'm pretty excited by this find because the dissolution of calcification is a major focus of Body Electronics. I will however point out that calcification is not the prime cause of aging and is itself the effect of mental and emotional resistances to life and not nutrition or genetic factors alone.
Calcification: The Aging Factor, How to Defuse the Calcium Bomb
Another Rudolf Steiner contribution. I've included this one more for the hardcore Anthroposophy students.
Rudolf Steiner - Social and Political Science: An Introductory Reader (Pocket Library of Spiritual Wisdom)
The Buteyko breathing method is as groundbreaking today as it was decades ago. Buteyko discovered that each disease had a specific breathing pattern associated with it and that health could be restored by adopting a more healthy pattern. Asthmatics find this technique particularly beneficial and I have known people who have thrown away their inhalers after learning this technique and who have also easily taught it to young children.
Buteyko - Buteyko Clinic Self Help: How to Apply the Buteyko Method
This is one of the great classics of natural health reading and encourages one back to a more in-touch-with-nature approach to all illness.
DC Jarvis - Folk Medicine: Natural Remedies for Everyday Ills
The evidence for the link between mercury amalgam dental fillings and autism is continually growing. I haven't read this book, but it is an area we need more understanding of as a society.
Autism, Amalgam and Me: Jodi's Journey Continues
Another investigation into the highly debatable merits of vaccination.
The Truth About Vaccines: How We are Used as Guinea Pigs without Knowing it
There are a small number of highly safe and effective natural health remedies that should be found in every family's cupboard. Children particularly benefit from such approaches.
Natural First Aid Remedies Chart
Dr Trall was one of the very first Natural Hygiene practitioners. Natural Hygiene is a very outspoken and no-nonsense natural healing method, utilising strictly nature-only approaches. Thanks again Kessinger Books.
Herbert Shelton - Basic Health Teachings of Dr. R. T. Trall - Pamphlet
You may think I've lost my marbles or "taking the proverbial", but there is a long history of health uses for urine. It has been used as a universal antiseptic, being loaded with antibodies, amino acids and various minerals. Only a small quantity of urine is actually a "waste" product as such, most of it simply being surplus to current requirements for the moment and the vessel for removing the wastes. You may have to reconsider your first opinions on this one!
Urine Therapy! Confessions of a Mad Pee Drinker
Another water book, but this time by natural health legend Sebastian Kniepp, a 19th century Bavarian Monk, who had once said, "When used appropriately, water and herbs can cure almost any disease.". Kniepp is the creator of the famous "Kniepp Bath" that Jensen often refers to.
Sebastian Kniepp - My Water - Cure
I got a copy of this last time I was in America. There are a lot of health suggestions very compatible with the healing programme of Body Electronics here, all presented in a very palatable way.
Brenda Watson - Renew Your Life--Improved Digestion and Detoxification
I'd like to hear from someone who has read this. In this age of scaremongering about sunlight and skin cancer, we may easily be creating the opposite imbalance of insufficient sunlight. This is not about "getting a tan" - we need a little sunlight on as much of our body as possible every day. 15-20 minutes in off-peak periods (i.e. not when the sun is at its peak) is all that is required.
Michael Merrill - Vitamin D: Antidote to Winter and the Darkness
This is one of those "I wish I didn't know about that" topics. Once you understand the effects of electric and magnetic fields from power lines, alarm clocks, TVs, electric blankets, you'll realise you're surrounded on all sides. I use a few field measurement devices and it's truly amazing what you find just walking around your house. The good news is there's lots of things you can do to make your home safer, starting with your bedroom as the first priority. The fact is we are electric beings, so why wouldn't we be affected by external fields?
Robert O Becker - The Body Electric: Electromagnetism and the Foundation of Life
It's perhaps middle of the road stuff for nutrition, but I like Ballantyne's style and he brings out some good points in this book that will make you think again, without letting science get in the way.
Rudoph Ballantyne - Diet & Nutrition: A Holistic Approach
