Essential Books and Recommended Reading

The links will take you to www.fishpond.co.nz, an excellent New Zealand-owned site that carries many great books, often at the best prices I've been able to find.

Alternately, you can visit my Amazon Essential Books page if you're interested in the same books from North America.

You Can Heal Your Life Louise Hay is inspired. I would not go to the extent of suggesting that you make her affirmations a way of life, but there is so much that is well illustrated here about how the mind expresses itself into physical form.

Louise Hay - You Can Heal Your Life

Heal Your Body With Body Electronics we're more interested in the unique expression of a particular person's mind, rather than archetypal expressions. Yet, even now I find this a a useful reference book to get a handle on word and belief patterns commonly associated with health problems. My only caution is not to take either of these books as "the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

Organon of Medicine - Fifth Edition If you really want to understand homeopathy you have to start here. While large tracts of this book are extremely intellectual there are some incredibly profound insights into the true homeopathic principle. Cool water for a burn? Not according to Hahnemann. You may not believe his recommendation but I have found it to work, especially when you understand that pain is not always a bad thing.

Secret Doctrine: A Synthesis of Science, Religion and Philosophy Madame Blavatsky is the godmother of modern spiritual teachings in the west. While eastern spiritual traditions extend back many thousands of years, the west effectively lived in the spiritual dark ages until the late 1800's, with only a few exceptions. Blavatsky became the inspiration for Alice Bailey and the school of Theosophy and many others, resulting in what many today would call the New Age movement.

The Liver Cleansing Diet I first read this not long after starting in Body Electronics and had the fortune of seeing Dr Cabot speak in person the same year. It speaks very simply and plainly and gives practical suggestions to achieve the outcome of a happy liver. By the way, if you don't have access to a specific herbal formula for you, her Livatone powdered product has worked well for many I have suggested it to (of course in conjunction with the dietary changes she recommends).

An Autobiography: The Story of My Experiments with Truth

Gandhi was a true spiritual leader and an exemplar of the Path of Harmlessness. How can we not want to know what he has to say?

Contributions of Thought: The Collected Writings of William Garner SutherlandReally I've included this for historical interest. Sutherland is the godfather of cranial osteopathy, an absolute boon to mankind, as a non-invasive way of restoring a degree of spinal, cranial and general physical harmony. How can we not be interested in this man's philosophy?

The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe Walter Russell had an extended white light experience, during which the workings of the universe were shown to him, and which he spent the rest of his life recording. This book gives an introduction to many of his revelations.

The Gospel of the Essenes

Jesus grew up among the Essenes and later spent much time teaching them. Many of these "lost" teachings surfaced among the Dead Sea Scrolls and are still relevant today.

Swedenborg: Life and Teaching 1938 Swedenborg was an 18th century theologian, regarded as “The Aristotle of the North”, who wrote extensively (more than 50 heavy volumes) in Latin on the hidden meaning of many biblical references and principles. Swedenborg had a number of visions (which he felt were direct experiences) of the realms of heaven and hell and the cosmos, wherein he was taken by angels on a “circular tour” after a spiritual crisis in his 50’s. This biography summarises many of Swedenborg’s theological, scientific, and philosophical works.

The Physiology of Faith and Fear or the Mind in Health and Disease It took me 8 years to find this book again, having been first drawn to it in a church library at a Body Electronics Instructors Seminar I co-taught with Dr Doug Morrison in Pennsylvania in 2001.
