Essential Books and Recommended Reading

Detoxification
Welcome to my detoxification collection. On this page you will find links to books I recommend, which you can purchase directly from Fishpond online bookstore in New Zealand and Australia, or from Amazon in North America.
In my experience, once on these sites it pays to search for other copies of the same book, to help you find the best deal.
Ann Wigmore - The Wheatgrass Book
Ann Wigmore is a legend! She is truly passionate about wheatgrass - this is the lady who carries a stash of it in her handbag for all sorts of emergency situations when she is out and about. You may read books with more referenced facts, but you can't go past Wigmore for sheer enthusiasm, conviction and anecdotal brilliance.

Barbara Simonsohn - Barley Grass Juice
Barley grass is right up there with wheatgrass in my book. In many cases it is a more convenient food to use as it's more readily available in a dried powdered form. Think green.

Bernard Jensen - Dr. Jensen's Guide to Diet and Detoxification (Dr. Bernard Jensen Library)
A lot of Jensen's books were written in the '50's and '60's and have been released with new covers and sometimes with new titles. I think this is one of them, formerly known as the Doctor-Patient Handbook. It's a great book for early natural health readers.

Dr Sandra Cabot - The Liver Cleansing Diet
I first read this not long after starting in Body Electronics and had the fortune of seeing Dr Cabot speak in person the same year. It speaks very simply and plainly and gives practical suggestions to achieve the outcome of a happy liver. By the way, if you don't have access to a specific herbal formula for you, her Livatone powdered product has worked well for many I have suggested it to (ideally, of course, in conjunction with the dietary changes she recommends).

Arnold Ehret - Mucusless Diet Healing System: "Master Key" to Superior Health
You can't really understand nutrition until you've studied and tried fasting. Ehret is unquestionably THE authority on fasting and may shock you with the revelation that food is not responsible for our health and vitality. This book so deserves its place on the "must-read" list.

Toni Jeffreys - Your Health at Risk
This one is the perfect thing for those social occasions when you're stuck for conversation: "Did you know that margarine has caused more coronaries than it has prevented...?" It also makes a great gift. Jeffreys reveals suppressed truths left, right and centre and the best thing about it is that they are all credibly referenced from orthodox medical journals and research - oh, the irony. MSG, sugar, aspartame, fats, heart bypasses, nicotine, prozac, the bra, golf, mobile phones, immunisation, root canals, the list of topics is huge. This kind of book excites me because it can reach so many people.

Hal Huggins - It's All in Your Head
Hal Huggins lost his dental license for teaching the dangers of mercury amalgam. I saw him speak at a seminar in Auckland some years ago and he's a mine of information who has the courage of his convictions and has suffered for his cause. He's not the only writer on this topic but given his clinical experience you can't go past him.

B C Wolverton - How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants That Purify Your Home or Office
Essential reading for creating a happy and safe home - from the humble Peace Lily to the stunning Poinsetia, houseplants can purify our air of all sorts of toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, as well as being emotionally uplifting.

Coulter and Fisher - A Shot in the Dark
Vaccination is a highly controversial topic, not just for questions over its effectiveness but also for its safety, being implicated in the cause of many devastating conditions such as Autism. The medical profession and pharmaceutical industries have a lot invested in the germ theory and vaccination and seldom are able to present a truly "informed consent" perspective. However, evidence for the dangers extend right back to the very beginnings of vaccination over 100 years ago.
|
Jean Shaw - Autism, Amalgam and Me: Jodi's Journey Continues
The evidence for the link between mercury amalgam dental fillings and autism is continually growing. I haven't read this book, but it is an area we need more understanding of as a society.
|
Robert O Becker - The Body Electric: Electromagnetism and the Foundation of Life
This is one of those "I wish I didn't know about that" topics. Once you understand the effects of electric and magnetic fields from power lines, alarm clocks, TVs, electric blankets, you'll realise you're surrounded on all sides. I use a few field measurement devices and it's truly amazing what you find just walking around your house. The good news is there's lots of things you can do to make your home safer, starting with your bedroom as the first priority. The fact is we are electric beings, so why wouldn't we be affected by external fields?

Brenda Watson - Renew Your Life - Improved Digestion and Detoxification
I got a copy of this last time I was in America. There are a lot of health suggestions very compatible with the healing programme of Body Electronics here, all presented in a very palatable way.
|
Hulda Clark - The Cure for All Diseases: With Many Case Histories
While certainly treating from the outside-in as far as identifying frequencies of harmful organisms for treatment purposes is concerned, Hulda Clark yet provides many useful insights into environmental dangers and the avoidance of toxins.
